Cypress (Texas) Bridgeland’s Jonte Newman debuts on 247Sports this week with a four-star 90 rating. Newman likely provides roster flexibility as a tackle-guard combo recruit given his experience at left tackle and his potential to excel inside in the long term. Newman has reported double-digit offers, including Alabama, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, and USC.
“Newman initially really impressed me when watching Bridgeland vs. Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek earlier this season, when he faced a diverse group of smaller/quicker pass rushers throughout the game,” said Hudson Standish, 247Sports national scouting analyst. “Think he moves in space and to the second level better than his combine testing shows. Newman could eventually slide inside to IOL at the next level but his encouraging arm length could keep him outside at tackle as well.”
