Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) CEO Dana White continues to add more to his plate.
In a surprising move today (Mon., Jan 6, 2025), Meta announced in a press release that White and two others (John Elkann and Charlie Songhurst) have been elected to the company’s board of directors.
This partnership brings Mark Zuckerberg, co-founder and CEO of Meta and White, together again, this time in a working relationship, and he is happy about it.
“Dana, John, and Charlie will add a depth of expertise and perspective that will help us tackle the massive opportunities ahead with AI, wearables, and the future of human connection,” the CEO of Meta said in a press release.
Zuckerberg, who is a die-hard mixed martial arts (MMA) fan and a jiu-jitsu blue belt, has attended several UFC events, such as UFC 300, and even rented out the UFC Apex in 2022 to watch the ‘Fight Night’ without a crowd.
Last year, White enlisted Zuckerberg’s Meta AI to help with the UFC rankings that drove the UFC head honcho nuts all year.
Nevertheless, White is excited to be on the board of directors to help his pal.
“I’ve never been interested in joining a board of directors until I got the offer to join Meta’s board. I am a huge believer that social media and AI are the future,” White said. “I am very excited to join this incredible team and to learn more about this business from the inside. There is nothing I love more than building brands, and I look forward to helping take Meta to the next level.”
Maybe now they can figure out a way to make the biggest fight of time x3.
