Alphonso Davies and Real Madrid have been teasing each other with a transfer for what seems like ages now, and Bayern Munich has been in the back desperately trying to keep the Canadian in Germany. Finally, we have more news.
We now have access to the kind of deal that Bayern is offering Davies, their only leverage in making him stay. According to a report from Florian Plettenberg (captured by @iMiaSanMia), the club is offering him a deal quite similar to one that was put on the table last summer: a contract until 2029 (that is a very long time) and €14-15m gross wages per year including add-ons, a significant increase from his current wage. This is simply what has been offered, a deal has not been finalized in any way, but Plettenberg says that Bayern is getting increasingly confident in an extension.
The same report tells us that Davies’ agent will meet with the club this week, and it could either make or break this deal. Fans will have to wait just a little longer to breathe a sigh of relief, but for the time being it looks like Real Madrid will have to shift their scopes elsewhere. This may not be of utmost priority for them either way, considering that former Bayern left back David Alaba is now back from injury and available to be chosen for the Madrid squad.
