Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany can look down his roster and see a lot of young talent. The problem has been finding ways to use those players.
For the bossman, there will be chances for the youngsters in the coming weeks.
“There’s always competition. The young players are just as much a part of it as the older ones. They should do everything they can every day to get a chance. They will get their chances,” said Kompany (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “I don’t count Mathys Tel as a very young player, he’s already played a lot and is more in the Aleks Pavlović category. We have six games until the end of January, and the past has shown that there’s a big chance they will get minutes. But I can’t say who and when.”
Board member for sport Max Eberl echoed Kompany’s sentiments and also addressed the issue of Tel.
“Playing time is extremely important. Perhaps in January there will be an opportunity to find a suitable loan for one or two players. In the case of Mathys, he’s fully in our plans for the entire season. We’ve had discussions with him and his agent. The squad in attack is deep, but not too deep. If we loan him out without a replacement, then we’ll have problems. Mathys has committed to us. He said he wanted to stay and perform,” said Eberl (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Bayern Munich does need to find better ways to integrate young players. While the every day training environment at Bayern Munich is special, nothing replaces game experience at this level. Surely, the club will be exploring how to balance things better moving forward.
