UFC 311, the first Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) pay-per-view (PPV), is four days away (Sat., Jan 18. 2024), and it is loaded with fun fights, with two UFC Championship fights headlining the card, but perhaps one of the most interesting is the Feature bout on the main card between two former Light Heavyweight champions Jiri Prochazka and Jamahal Hill.
And that’s because the fight could have considerable title implications for the winner, and the loser would be shoved down the divisional ladder.
Even with the immense stakes attached to the fight, Prochazka really isn’t thinking about a third fight with Alex Pereira; however, his opponent, Hill, is fixated on getting a rematch with “Poatan.”
Prochazka thinks it is an error on the “Sweet Dreams” part.
“I would just say that it is a big mistake when you are not focused on what’s before you, and you’re looking at another opponent. It will cost you a lot,” Prochazka told the media during UFC 311 media day. “So, it’s just about staying humble and focused on what’s before you. I don’t speak about other opponents, about who will be the next. Even if I did say I want to fight Alex Pereira for a third time because I believe in myself and the changes in my style. So, no, this is not the time or place right now. There is Jamahal Hill this Saturday, and I want to win, and I’m going to win this fight. Then we can talk about others.”
Hill has been pretty obsessed about fighting Pereira again since his UFC 300 knockout loss (watch it).
Wanting to avenge a loss isn’t different from any other fighter who has devastatingly lost a fight. Still, how the former champion has gone about it while being booked against a dangerous fighter could be worrisome.
Nevertheless, “Sweet Dreams” will get to implement his rematch plans this weekend and shut Prochazka up with a win.
