Earlier this month, PING announced the new G440 lineup, building on the success of the G430 series. Here’s the breakdown of every model in the PING G440 family (drivers, fairways, hybrids, irons). I’ll cover the basics including available lofts, pricing and for whom these clubs are designed. Stay tuned for Most Wanted testing results as we get closer to the season!
PING G440 drivers
There are three drivers in the PING G440 lineup. PING is also offering an HL (high launch) build in the MAX and SFT so it feels like you have four options.
PING G440 MAX driver
The G440 MAX driver offers mid-spin performance and high MOI. It’s the most versatile option in the lineup. You’ll notice the G440 MAX has a slightly more compact profile than its predecessor, the G430 MAX. It’s designed for golfers looking for a balance of performance from forgiveness to distance.
- Lofts Available: 9°, 10.5°, 12°
- MSRP: $599.99
PING G440 SFT driver
The G440 SFT (Straight Flight Technology) is for golfers who slice. It has draw-biased weighting and the adjustability differs from in the MAX as it lets you move from “Draw” to Draw+”. For golfers who struggle to hit straight drives, the SFT will be the place to start.
- Lofts Available: 9°, 10.5°
- MSRP: $599.99
PING G440 LST driver
The G440 LST (Low Spin Technology) is the high swing speed driver. It’s best for golfers who need help reducing spin and controlling their ball flight. The G440 LST is a smaller 450cc clubhead and will be a top choice for many lower-handicap golfers who can generate speed.
- Lofts Available: 9°, 10.5°
- MSRP: $599.99
PING G440 HL option
The HL (High Launch) build is available with the G440 MAX or SFT driver heads. The HL is for golfers with swing speeds in the 75- to 90-mph range. With the HL build, the head, shaft and grip are lighter to reduce the total weight of the club.
- Available Driver Heads: G440 MAX, G440 SFT
- Lofts Available: Same as MAX or SFT (9°, 10.5°, 12°)
- MSRP: $599.99
PING G440 fairway woods
There are three G440 fairway woods, again with the addition of the optional HL build like in the driver series.
PING G440 MAX fairway
The G440 MAX is the most versatile fairway wood in the lineup. PING tried to offer a balance of spin and trajectory in this club. It delivers high ball speed but slightly higher launch conditions and tighter dispersion than the G430 MAX.
- Lofts Available: 3W (15°), 4W (17°), 5W (19°), 7W (21°), 9W (24°)
- MSRP: $384.99
PING G440 SFT fairway
Designed for players who primarily use fairway woods off the turf, the G440 SFT features a shallower face and the most draw-biased weighting in the lineup. PING made the SFT easier to hit off the ground.
- Lofts Available: 3W (16°), 5W (19°), 7W (22°)
- MSRP: $384.99
PING G440 LST fairway
The G440 LST fairway wood features a Carbonfly Wrap crown, a deeper profile and the new HST 220 Ti face material. The LST model is best for high swing speed players looking for performance off the tee or the fairway. The price tag on this one is quite a bit higher than the other PING G440 fairways.
- Lofts Available: 3W (15°), 5W (19°)
- MSRP: $549.99
PING G440 hybrids
PING decided to change things up a bit with the G440 hybrid line. Instead of the traditional LST, MAX and SFT models, they made one G440 hybrid and offered six loft-specific models. Each hybrid is made specifically for players who would benefit from that loft. For instance, you’ll see more draw bias in the 7H and fade bias and control in the 2H.
Specifications
- Lofts Available: 2H (17°), 3H (20°), 4H (23°), 5H (26°), 6H (30°), 7H (34°)
- MSRP: $324.99
PING G440 irons
The G440 irons offer a more compact profile than the G430 series. The G440 is designed for higher ball speeds, tighter dispersion and improved aesthetics. You’ll also find a thinner face and lower center of gravity in this new game-improvement iron.
- Lofts Available: 4–9, PW (42°), UW (47°), 52°, 56°
- MSRP: $169.99 (steel), $184.99 (graphite)
