Bayern Munich is a top five club in the world with an annual transfer and salary budget that dwarfs the rest of the Bundesliga. However, Bayern has invested heavily in the development of senior players through the youth academy. Bayern legends like Franz Beckenbauer, Philipp Lahm, Thomas Müller, Sepp Maier, and Bastian Schweinsteiger were all products of the academy.
More recently, Bayern’s academy has produced a healthy crop of first team contributors, such as Jamal Musiala, Aleksandar Pavlović, Josip Stanišić, Paul Wanner, Arijon Ibrahimović and Adam Aznou.
According to Sky Sport News (via @iMiaSanMia), the current gem of the academy is close to moving up to the senior squad.
Vincent Kompany and his staff are impressed with the mentality of Bayern U19 captain Jussef Nasrawe (17/attacking midfielder) and regularly have him involved in first team training. Born in Munich, Nasrawe’s long-term goal is to make it at Bayern’s first team. The youngster impressed as far as mentality and technique are concerned, but still needs to work on the physical side of his game.
In 14 appearances this season, Nasrawe has scored four goals and made two assists to lead Bayern to the top of Group G in the U19 DFB-Nachwuchsliga.
Over the past six months, Bayern’s management team has actively tried to sell Leroy Sané, Kingsley Coman, and Serge Gnabry. Given the state of flux in Bayern’s attack, Nasrawe should be ready to seize any opportunity that falls in his lap.
