If you are among those that believe that Bayern Munich needs to make some changes after getting their doors blown off by Feyenoord in Rotterdam during a Champions League tilt earlier this week, then you probably will not like this.
Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund said that the big loss will not pressure the club into any moves.
“One game doesn’t change our belief in the squad. We’re very pleased with the quality we have in our squad. I’ve learned that you can never rule anything out in football, but there’s currently nothing planned,” Freund said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
That comes as a stark contrast to Freund’s approach last January. In the time that he was leading the club’s personnel efforts before Max Eberl official took over, it could be argued that Freund overpaid for two players during the January transfer window (Bryan Zaragoza, Sacha Boey), who barely played for the club last season.
Freund also made an astute move to get Eric Dier for a minimal fee (€3.5 million), which did make a positive impact during the 2023/24 season.
