Bayern Munich managed to leave Freiburg with all three points after a long week of football. That is the key point here after the away game for Bayern on Saturday. While Bayern didn’t play a great match per their high standards, Freiburg is well-known for being very difficult for opposing teams. Vincent Kompany has learned to appreciate three points when you get them.
Vincent Kompany: “It may not have been our best game, but it’s one of the best wins because we know how difficult it is here in Freiburg against the second-placed team at home. It was a difficult week for us with the three games in a row” pic.twitter.com/Q3qIPHkdJk

Kompany summed it up as well as anyone with his post-match comment. By no means were Bayern at their best, with both goals being a bit of flukes on Freiburg’s part. A well-placed cross from a corner that went in off Freiburg’s own goalkeeper for an own-goal as well as Kane’s shot that was certainly within reach for a save or at least deflection away from goal.
Nonetheless, it is just what Die Roten need after a frustrating mid-week fixture in Rotterdam. Some uninspiring recent week of football will hopefully be turned around after returning to Munich to re-group before playing their final Champions League group stage match of the season.
Buckle up. This season is about to get serious in coming weeks.
