Top 10 Flyweights will collide in late March.
Former two-time Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Flyweight champion Brandon Moreno will fight former UFC Flyweight title challenger Steve Erceg on Sat., March 29, 2025, in the main event of UFC Mexico City, which will go down inside Arena CDMX in Mexico.
MMAmania.com was able to confirm the booking with multiple sources. Twitter user Kevin K was the first to break the news.
Moreno (22-8-2) is coming off a dominant unanimous decision win over Amir Albazi back at UFC Edmonton in 2024. The victory over Albazi snapped a two-fight losing streak in which he lost two close split decisions to Brandon Royval and Alexandre Pantoja.
“The Assassin Baby,” told the media after his big win at UFC Edmonton that he knows he needs another win to get back in title contention, and a win in March could push him to the front of the line.
After starting red hot in the promotion, going 3-0, Erceg (12-3) was thrust into a Flyweight title fight against Pantoja. While he lost a close unanimous decision, his stock did not plummet.
However, in his last outing, “Astroboy” got knocked out by Kai Kara-France, which put him on a two-fight losing streak (watch highlights).
For what it’s worth, Erceg was booked against Asu Almabayev at UFC Vegas 103, but that fight was scrapped. There is no word on whether Almabayev will get a new opponent.
