The New York Giants will enter the 2025 NFL draft in hopes of landing their quarterback of the future.
NFL.com draft analyst Bucky Brooks believes they will do just that by selecting Miami’s Cam Ward with the third overall selection.
The selection of this alpha-dog quarterback gives the Giants the competitive leader needed to bounce back from a couple of disappointing seasons.
Brooks has Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders going first overall to the Tennessee Titans followed by the Cleveland Browns’ selection of Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter.
That cleared the way for the Giants to snatch up Ward, bypassing Travis Hunter, the Heisman Trophy winner who is considered by many to be the best player in this draft.
Brookes does not account for any possible trades in this mock and he may be right in that assessment. Barring anything unforeseen, the order should remain intact as most analysts don’t see many teams looking to move up in the order to take any of the quarterbacks.
There could be some interest in Hunter, however. If that is the case, Giants general manager Joe Schoen would likely entertain the offers. Keep in mind, we have yet to see these quarterbacks go through the draft run-up process such as the NFL Combine, pro days, and private workouts.
It could be very possible that the Giants trade back, gather more draft capital and take another quarterback later in the order, such as Alabama’s Jalen Milroe, Jaxson Dart of Ole Miss, or Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel.
