There are several very good or even great quarterbacks in the NFL who, for whatever reason, don’t get the credit or the publicity they perhaps deserve.
Despite his team’s success over the last few years and the opportunity it now has, Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles could be considered as part of that group of underrated or underappreciated quarterbacks.
Former Pro Bowl quarterback Robert Griffin III posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) a long list of stats to make his argument that Hurts deserves a lot more credit for what he has done and the level he has played at.
Jalen Hurts is the most underrated QB in the NFL.
For the stats lovers:
– 1st Eagles QB to reach 2 Super Bowls
-5th QB ever to reach 2 Super Bowls before turning 27
-206 consecutive passes without an INT in the postseason. 2nd longest streak in NFL history behind Drew Brees… pic.twitter.com/p64KAWLxN4

In some ways, Hurts has been an underdog for years — he was infamously benched in favor of Tua Tagovailoa during the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship Game while a member of the University of Alabama Crimson Tide.
When the Eagles took him in the second round of the 2020 draft, he started out his rookie season as a third-string quarterback, but by the end of the year, he was becoming entrenched as their starter.
He was the runner-up in the MVP balloting in 2022, and while his passing stats this season — 2,903 yards and 18 touchdowns — weren’t very impressive, he ran for 630 yards and 14 touchdowns.
After Philly collapsed late last season and lost in the wild-card round of the playoffs, Hurts has led them to the Super Bowl for the second time in three seasons, and they now have a shot at revenge versus the Kansas City Chiefs, the team that defeated them there last time.
Perhaps a win over Patrick Mahomes and crew and a Vince Lombardi Trophy would result in Hurts no longer being underrated.
