Bayern Munich midfielder Sarah Zadrazil is set to miss a spell after suffering an injury during training. The news comes just before the competitive restart, with the Bavarians set to take on RB Leipzig on Sunday, February 2, in Frauen-Bundesliga action.
Via an FCB Frauen social media account:
Midfielder Sarah Zadrazil suffered a torn muscle fibre in her thigh at the FC Bayern women’s training camp in Seville and will be out for several weeks.
Zadrazil has been a mainstay in the Bayern midfield under coach Alexander Straus, starting consistently alongside England women’s national team star Georgia Stanway.
The Austrian will be a big miss — and her injury, if it was not a catalyst for the signing to begin with, will open the door for incoming Bayern transfer Arianna Caruso.
Hopefully the injury to Zadrazil is not serious and she can get back up to speed soon, as Bayern is still light in central midfield, having loaned out Samantha Kerr to Liverpool FC earlier in January.
The Frauen-Bundesliga title race is an exciting one this season. Bayern has a game in hand but Eintracht Frankfurt, with a win over Bayer Leverkusen in the early game on Friday, has at least temporarily jumped ahead of the Bavarians in the table.
