Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed stories that broke earlier on Sunday, which indicated that Bayern Munich is fully ready to move on from Mathys Tel — and would rather sell the attacker than loan him out for a specific period.
It appears that something is amiss between the Bayern Munich camp and Tel’s representation, who are still pushing for a loan:
At this time, Mathys Tel is still pushing for a loan move. Meanwhile, Bayern are pushing for a permanent move (sale or loan with obligation to buy). Several clubs are calling. Now it depends on whether Bayern will give the green light on deadline day.
Where did this all go so wrong? Tel should seek more playing time and he has every right to make the move that is best for his development, but Bayern Munich did go from convincing him to stay a few weeks ago to trying to unload him permanently. It has been a bizarre turn of events to say the least.
Well, we will know soon about Tel’s future, but by the optics of these reports, it might be best for everyone to go their separate ways.
Evan Ferguson is making the jump to West Ham United from Brighton & Hove Albion:

Bayern Munich wanted to come out and make a strong impression against Holstein Kiel in the Bundesliga and the squad did exactly that in wrapping up a 4-3 victory.
Bayern Munich was convincing in capturing the win (until a late defensive collapse), which saw the Bavarians look dominant for extended stretches. Despite playing a low block for extended stretches, Holstein Kiel was also more willing to test Bayern Munich than most other teams.
Eventually, though, Holstein Kiel would wear down. Let’s talk about how it all went down and more on the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show. This is what we have on tap:
- A look at the starting XI and why Vincent Kompany still needs to consider his options to rotate more.
- A rundown of the scoring and substitutions.
- Some final thoughts and takeaways on the match.
If there is one thing that Bayern Munich star Harry Kane does not want to hear any more, it is the chatter about the lack of trophies in his closet.
Sure, the individual awards are overflowing, but team-based trophies have not been easy to come by for the Englishman.
“There are a lot of people who, throughout my career, only talk about the fact that I haven’t won a trophy yet. It would be nice to silence a few people,” Kane said.
At this point last season, the wheels were about to come off of Bayern Munich. It seemed unfathomable that the Bavarians would go trophyless, but they — somehow — did. Now, Bayern Munich has a decent lead in the Bundesliga (albeit with Bayer Leverkusen hard-charging after them) and a somewhat favorable draw in the Champions League (though, winning this competition would still qualify as a longshot).
Could Kane finally exorcise those ghosts and silence the naysayers?

Silva’s move to RB Leipzig was always a little suspect given the team’s sales-based model. The former Eintracht Frankfurt star quickly fell out of favor and never lived up to the hype. With Werder Bremen, he could be given a chance to prove that he still has something left to offer in hopes of generating a bigger move during the summer.
Bayern Munich is in the middle of quite a few things at the moment, so let’s try to tackle some of the most pertinent topics of discussion. Here is what we have on tap for this edition of the Weekend Warm-up Show:
- Mathys Tel’s transfer situation is a failure by the club, the coaching staff, and the player. None of them had a plan for this season and it led to this.
- If Tottenham Hotspur wants to pay a crazy fee for Tel, Bayern Munich should sell him.
- No one should be calling for Vincent Kompany’s head, but he does need to be held accountable for the team’s performances of late — and his man management, which is leaving a lot to be desired.
- Niko Kovač was hired by Borussia Dortmund…is that a good fit?
- Bayern Munich could miss out on Xavi Simons as he looks likely to make a permanent move to RB Leipzig.
At one point, Kieran Trippier was on Bayern Munich’s radar, but now he could be headed to Galatasaray — if Eddie Howe will let him leave Newcastle United:

Inter Milan could be lining up a move for Arsenal FC’s Oleksandr Zinchenko during the summer:
Internazionale are looking to sign left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko from Arsenal in the summer, with a move to Borussia Dortmund this month having collapsed.
Bayern Munich knew what was at stake against Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League and got three points.
However, the Bavarians did not catch all of the breaks needed for a top eight finish and will now look toward the playoff round of the competition for the next step.
Bayern Munich was convincing in capturing a 3-1 victory and the game did leave a lot of discussion fodder. Let’s talk about how it all went down and more on the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show. This is what we have on tap:
- A look at the starting XI and what was surprising. (Hint: Who needs center-backs?)
- A rundown of the scoring and substitutions.
- Some final thoughts and takeaways on the match.
Manchester United could be eyeing VfB Stuttgart attacker El Bilal Toure, who is on loan from Atalanta. However, some moves might have to precede any deal for the Red Devils:
Manchester United are interested in a move for on-loan VfB Stuttgart striker El Bilal Toure, according to Foot Mercato. The Red Devils are reported to have “accelerated” in their pursuit of the 23-year-old, who is on loan from Atalanta, and it is reported that there could be a three-way deal situation emerging in which the Bundesliga club would make his loan become permanent for €18m before moving him on to Old Trafford.
Sergio Ramos is headed to the Americas…just not MLS. Instead, the Real Madrid legend is joining Rayados:
