The biggest thing, when talking to people around the league, was the concern about Luka’s conditioning. As we all know, and as has been reported, he’s gotten up to 270 pounds. According to my sources, the Dallas Mavericks were feeling like it could end up being a Joel Embiid-type situation. And if that is the case, then it’s completely—well, it’s not warranted. It’s not that this makes everything okay, but when you think about a star player who has had such an impact on a team, like Joel Embiid, but then isn’t available because of injuries, you can at least start to understand the worry.
