Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala is expected to sign a contract extension with the club any day now and one determining factor for getting the deal done was the presence of players who the youngster considers close friends — namely Alphonso Davies (who just re-upped his own deal on Tuesday) and Leroy Sané.
Abendzeitung journalist Maximilian Koch provided the report (as captured by @iMiaSanMia):
Bayern and Jamal Musiala’s camp are close to reaching a total agreement over a new deal. After Davies, Musiala is next to extend his contract. There are legal details still to be clarified, therefore the signature won’t be this week. For the 21-year old, an important factor is to continue playing with his friends Davies/Sané.
It is sometimes easy to forget just how young (21-years-old) that Musiala is — and just how important close friends can be for someone at that age. While Davies will be around for a while, Sané’s future is less than certain.
Maybe Musiala’s influence will keep Sané around longer? Time will tell.
