RB Lepizig recently made Xavi Simons’ loan move from Paris Saint-Germain permanent for a reported club-record fee of €50 million plus bonuses.
According to Sport Bild, RB Leizpig also had to dig deep into their pockets to meet the player’s wage demands, with the Dutchman now earning €12 million a year – a new club record.
Simons’ contract, which runs until 2027, doesn’t include a release clause, but the club have reportedly promised the attacking midfielder that he will be allowed to move on as long as they make a profit on the transfer.
The 21-year-old has scored five goals and provided four assists in 18 appearances for the Die Roten Bullen this season.
