With the No. 1 transfer portal class for 2025 (according to 247Sports ), the LSU Tigers will welcome 16 new faces to Death Valley for the start of spring practice on March 8. Here are three transfer players to watch when LSU blows the whistle to begin drills.
WR/KR Barion Brown (from Kentucky)
Brown, the most dynamic player in the SEC, Brown can score from anywhere on the field. Blessed with world-class speed (4.28 in the 40-yard dash), Brown has amassed over 3,200 all-purpose yards in three seasons.
Last season, Brown scored three receiving touchdowns, one rushing score, and one kickoff return for a touchdown, and averaged almost 25 yards per return on kickoffs. As a result, Brown was named to the first-team All-SEC as a return specialist and second-team all-conference as an all-purpose player.
The real question is: can the LSU co-offensive coordinators, Joe Sloan and Cortez Hankton, dial up some explosive plays to take advantage of Brown’s explosive talent? Or, will the Tigers channel their inner Les Miles and allow Brown’s speed and athleticism to be underutilized? Stay tuned.
EDGE Jack Pyburn (from Florida)
Providing depth for the Tigers who could see the field sooner rather than later, Pyburn was third on the Gators team last season in tackles with 60. In addition, Pyburn recorded an INT, four tackles for loss, one sack and a forced fumble.
Against LSU last season, Pyburn racked up eight tackles in a 27-16 win by the Gators that started a four-game win streak to finish 8-5 and saved Billy Napier’s job, at least for one more season.
CB Mansoor Delane (from Virginia Tech)
A third-team All-ACC selection in 2024, Delane made plays all over the field last season. Delane recorded 54 tackles, seven pass breakups and two forced fumbles. In addition, Delane recorded four INTs, which was more than anyone in the LSU secondary posted in 2024.
During his three seasons of college football, Delane’s stat line looks like this: 146 tackles, 16 pass breakups, six INTs and four forced fumbles. LSU defensive backs coach Corey Raymond cannot get Delane into an LSU uniform fast enough.
