Daniel Cormier brought in a diverse group of coaches to help him on The Ultimate Fighter 33 including a current WWE superstar joining his team.
Julius Creed — real name Jacob Kasper — was revealed as one of Cormier’s coaches on Tuesday and his addition comes just one day after he appeared on WWE’s Monday Night Raw. In WWE, Kasper joins with his real life brother Drew Kasper aka Brutus Creed to form a tag team that’s part of a group known as American Made.
While his career now centers around professional wrestling, Kapser is actually a very accomplished collegiate and amateur wrestler after growing up in Ohio and then attending Duke University. There, Kasper was a two-time NCAA All-American wrestler before attempting to make the U.S. Olympic wrestling team in 2016.
Kasper is no stranger to working with Cormier after he joined his training camp when the former two-division UFC champion was preparing for a fight against Jon Jones.
It’s unclear if Kasper is going to be splitting time between WWE and his time coaching on TUF but as a current member of the Monday Night Raw roster, he typically performs on Mondays and then usually Saturdays if the promotion is holding a premium live event.
In addition to Kasper’s inclusion as one of the coaches, Cormier also brought in UFC veteran Michael Chiesa as well as two very experienced head coaches in Bob Cook, who works out of American Kickboxing Academy, and John Wood, who owns and operates Syndicate MMA in Las Vegas.
Cormier also included his longtime boxing coach Rosendo Sanchez and kickboxing veteran Tiago Beowulf.
The new season of The Ultimate Fighter pits Cormier against Chael Sonnen as coaches with a group of men’s flyweights and welterweights making up the cast with the series debuting on May 27 on ESPN2 and streaming on ESPN+.
