The Philadelphia Eagles are world champions following their decisive win against the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.
They rolled the Chiefs by a final score of 40-22, and it wasn’t even that close, as the Eagles led 34-0 in the third quarter.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts was named Super Bowl MVP after he completed 17 of 22 pass attempts for 221 yards and two touchdowns while adding a third touchdown on the ground.
However, the Eagles defense really was the story, and pass rusher Josh Sweat said he should’ve been awarded the Pete Rozelle Trophy.
“I should’ve had it. I could’ve had it. It’s all good, though,” Sweat said, via Around The NFL.

Sweat’s numbers during the regular season — 8.0 sacks, 15 quarterback hits and nine tackles for loss — were impressive, but he was even better during the Super Bowl.
He had 2.5 sacks, three QB hits, two tackles for loss and six total tackles, and was as much a reason as any of his teammates that Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes was flustered more than he had been in years.
In all, Mahomes threw two interceptions and was sacked six times, and it was reminiscent of Super Bowl LV when he had a bad outing as the Chiefs lost by 22 points to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Philadelphia won it all behind arguably the best defense in football, and it was quite a turnaround after that defense was very poor last season and contributed to their 2023 collapse.
