One of the surprise inclusions on Bayern Munich’s travel list to Scotland was Hiroki Itō, the hard-luck defender, who has been injured for most of the season.
After month of recovery, rehab, and at least one major setback, Itō is just about ready to go.
“Hiroki was really good for us in pre-season. It was a real shame he’s been out for so long, like Josip Stanišić. It’s also good that we never used that as an excuse. Now they’re back and we feel we finally have breathing space in that area. We’ve now got more players with experience and quality, but it’s tough to judge his fitness. The impression in training has been good, but I can’t organise a last-minute friendly for them,” said Kompany (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Kompany, though, is not the only person eager to see Itō back in action.
“He hasn’t played a competitive game for FC Bayern yet, we’re happy to have another centre-back, a left-footed one who can also play in other positions. We were all happy that he’s back — he’s done well in training. I’m looking forward to his first appearances,” Neuer stated (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
