The New York Jets are usually very patient with their head coaches.
However, it’s not like that has worked out for them.
That’s why team owner Woody Johnson went away from his usual tendencies and pulled the plug on Robert Saleh just five games into the season.
Saleh left the team with the worst winning percentage since 2000 and a 20-36 record.
And while most of his tenure there was plagued by poor quarterback play, and the Jets did have an outstanding defense, things weren’t working out anymore.
When asked about this decision, ESPN insider Adam Schefter stated that the ownership felt like this team was better than the way it was playing.

In a nutshell, Woody Johnson knew that this might be the final season of Aaron Rodgers’ career, and he believed they had an opportunity to make a run at the AFC East Division and the Super Bowl, so he didn’t want the season to slip away.
The renowned insider claimed that he didn’t think the ownership consulted with Rodgers or any of the players before making this decision.
He also thinks they had a healthy relationship with mutual respect, unlike what most people try to portray.
At the end of the day, the Jets thought that defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich would give them a better opportunity to hold this team accountable and take it to the next level.
Of course, there are still several questions on offense, but with Saleh’s seat getting hotter by the day, this was due to happen at some point.
