Winner and STILL AEW TNT Champion: Daniel Garcia
Rating: ***1/2. Surprisingly enough, this one took a while to get going. The crowd was a little quiet early but they got into it after the commercial. I thought for sure they were going the full twenty, but I’m glad we got a decisive win. They’re 1-1, now.
Jon Moxley is here with Wheeler Yuta and Marina Shafir. Moxley said FTR’s debt was paid, until they stepped in the ring with Adam Copeland. Copeland sat on the shelf and defied the odds to come back after a broken neck, but he’s always been a frontrunner. Survival comes at a cost, and he will find nothing good down this road. Hell on earth.
Match #2. Jeff Jarrett vs. Aaron Solow
Solow attacks Jarrett from behind and here we go. Right hands and an enziguiri by Jarrett (kind of). Back body drop by Jarrett. Stroke. A second one. Finito.
Winner: Jeff Jarrett
Rating: NA. Well, I didn’t have Jeff Jarrett getting squash matches on my 2025 Bingo card but here we are.
Match #3. AEW World Tag Team Championship: Private Party (c) vs. Action Andretti & Lio Rush
Brawl to start and a double back body drop by Private Party to Andretti. Andretti distracts Quen and Rush connects with a lariat. Double suplex to Kassidy on the apron and another one back inside the ring. Two count. Double snap mare and a double low dropkick. Chops by Andretti in the corner and we go to commercial. Back from commercial and Kassidy gets sent into the corner but dumps Andretti to the floor and spinebusters Rush. Quen gets back to the apron and makes the tag. Clotheslines and a phantompump kick to Andretti. Enziguiri to Rush and a Death Valley Driver on top of Andretti! Two count. Prive Party think of Gin & Juice, but Quen’s back is hurt and they try a Twist of Fate, but Rush is here with a cutter to Kassidy and Andretti hits the Spanish Fly from the top on Quen. Suicide dive to the outside by Andretti and he and Rush hit Gin & Juice on Kassidy! Two count. Top Flight is in the front row and they distract everyone. Rush and Andretti go up top but Private Party back away and call them down, and now we’ve got a fist fight again. Double ducks under and a quadruple clothesline and everyone is down. Rush tries for a bottom rope cutter but he gets caught and dumped to the outside. Moonsault off the apron by Kassidy and an Arabian Press by Andretti! Quen goes up top now, and comes off with a somersault senton. Twist of Fate by Kassidy and a Shooting Star Press by Quen to Rush. Andretti hits a springboard 450 from the apron to break up the pin. Enziguiri by Kassidy from the apron and a sunset flip, but Rush holds on and tries to sneak a pin holding the ropes, but Dante Martin jumps in and knocks his hand off. Kassidy rolls Rush up for the win!
Winner and STILL AEW World Tag Team Champion: Private Party
Rating: ***. Fine tag match here, although the crowd again didn’t seem to care about Rush and Andretti here. I assume will get some sort of three-way at the PPV.
Cope is with Lexy Nair. Cope says if you attack his friends, you have a problem with him. Moxley said nobody wanted to be world champion? Well Cope wasn’t here, and he’s been champ eleven times… it’s time to make it a dirty dozen.
Here’s Chris Jericho! Jericho launches into a tirade of all of his accomplishments, but Cope cuts him off and says he likes him, he respects him, and they’ve been doing this for four decades. Jericho forgot about him completely, so Cope thinks he’s an asshole.
Match #4. Toni Storm vs. Deonna Purrazzo w/ Taya Valkyrie
The Rookie tries to shake hands and Deonna obliges. Knuckle lock to start as both women trade head lock take overs and they bridge their way out. Cheap shot by Deonna and some hard chops in the corner. Taya gets in the face of Storm which allows Deonna to hit a baseball slide and a crossbody (which may have supposed to have been a cannonball) off the apron as we go to commercial. Back from commercial and Storm hits a Thesz Press and some mounted punches. Perfect Plex by Storm gets two. STF by Storm but Deonna gets to the ropes, which allows Storm to follow up with a running hip attack in the corner for two. Taya is on the apron and Deonna catches Storm with a release German suplex and a pump kick. Fujiwaya armbar by Deonna but Storm gets to the ropes. Headbutt by Storm. Pump kick by Deonna. Kick to the gut and a DDT by Storm gets two. Deonna runs into a back elbow and both women trade duck unders until Storm gets the cradle for the win.
Winner: Toni Storm
Rating: **1/2. Fine match between the two, but both women are capable of so much more. Toni Storm truly is the face of the AEW women’s division, whether people want to agree with it or not.
A video of Christopher Daniels and Hangman Page arguing in the back is shown. Daniels says Page can be world champion but Page said Daniels has never given anyone anything. Page sees an old man clinging on to a sport that left him behind many years ago. Page then slaps Daniels in the face and Daniels loses it and attacks Page with headbutts before busting him open! Daniels exclaims he’s the f’ing Fallen Angel!
Max Caster says he’s still the GOAT but he fell victim to a two-on-one attack. Bowens cuts him off and says he’s tired of it, and so is Billy, that’s why he’s not here. Caster says f Billy. Bowens says Billy is the only reason he hasn’t punched him in the face yet.
Match #5. Brian Cage vs. Komander vs. The Beast Mortos vs. Dante Martin
Cage throws Komander into Martin, who monkey flips Komander into a hurricanana. Double suicide dive by Komander and Martin, who find themselves back in the ring trading pinning combinations. Around the world tieres by Komander to Mortos. Double jump corkscrew moonsault plancha by Komander to Cage and Mortos. Double jump swan dive by Martin and everyone is down. Lio Rush is out of nowhere and he blasts Martin in the back of the head and throws him into the steel steps. Huge pop-up Samoan drop by Mortos to Komander. Cage hits the ring with the pump handle driver to Mortos! Commercial break. By the way I mentioned this earlier but, there is no PIP on Max. However, the feed is perfect. I’ll take it. Back from break and Cage superkicks Martin on the apron. Headbutt to Cage by Mortos and a high kick in the corner. Spinning back kick to Komander, but a running flipping face buster in return. Springboard destroyer by Komander to Mortos! Enziguiri to Cage and a cannonball off the top by Martin. Diving suplex by Martin to Komander. Destinaltion Hellhole by Mortos to Martin. Deadlift superplex by Cage to Mortos from the outside-in! Poisonrana by Komander to Mortos! Komander gets caught diving off the top right into an Alabama Slam and an F5. Martin tries a sunet flip but Cage catches him with a discus lariat. Project X to Martin and that’ll do it!
Winner: Brian Cage
Rating: ***1/4. Lots of fun, crazy, spot-fest multi-man match. Brian Cage won $100,000 I think?
FTR are in the back with the Rock & Roll Express! Dax apologizes for spike piledriving Ricky years ago. Wait, The OutRunners are here! Truth says the RNR owe them gas money from Memphis in 1982! Ricky and Robert say they don’t even think these guys were both yet, but they’re sorry if it happened. YOU SON OF A BITCH! Top guys, out!
Match #6. Trios Match: RatedFTR vs. The Learning Tree
Dax tries to chop down Bill early, but Bill does some body work in the corner. Bill chokeslams Cash on Dax and we’re going to commercial. Back from break and Cope and Jericho are standing face-to-face, crowd likes this. Flying forearms by Cope and a flapjack (I love Tony Schiavone but he calls a flapjack a flatliner every change he gets and it drives me nuts). Half-chicken wing facebuster by Cope. Bryan Keith is in and he stops an Impaler attempt. Bill is in the ring and he powerbombs Dax. Impaler DDT by Cope to Jericho! Cope wants spear but Jericho counters with a Code Breaker for two. Bill gets the tag and puts the boots to Cope in the Learning Tree corner. Keith gets the tag and they take turns putting the boots to Cope. Edge-O-Cution by Cope and he finally gets the tag to Cash. Cash if a house of fire now and he’s dropkicking everyone. Flying forearm to Bill, who’s now legal. Neckbreaker over the top by Cash and a diving crossbody off the top. DDT by Cash gets a two count. Bill gets put on the top rope and it’s a Power Plex plus an elbow drop from Cope! One, two, no! Bill gets a second wind and clears the ring with clotheslines before hitting the Black Hole Slam on Dax. Two count. Bill misses a corner charge but Jericho gets the tag. Brainbuster by Dax! Two count. Sharpshooter to Keith but a Walls of Jericho to Cash. Dax and Jericho are face-to-face exchanging punches but Bill is there with a big boot and so is Cope. Bill misses a big boot and goes over the top. Crossbody off the top by Cope to Bill on the floor! Suicide dive by Cash to Bill! Dax and Jericho now trade punches from their knees in the middle of the ring. Brutal chops back and forth now. Clothesline by Dax and he heads up top, but Bryan Keith hits Dax with the title behind the referee’s back. Two count. Spear by Cope to Keith on the apron! Cradle by Dax gets two on Jericho. Clothesline by Jericho and he looks for the Lionsault but he is WAY too close to the ropes and he tries to get the knees up, but Jericho sort of goes over the top of him and half way lands on his head. Brutal spot here. Shatter Machine to Jericho and a spear from Cope. One, two, three!
Winners: RatedFTR
Rating: ***. Well, that certainly was a match. There were a few spots in this match that were just off, and unfortunately, they all involved Jericho in some way shape or form. The Lionsault spot was scary. I also question Jericho being the one to take the pin here… isn’t he your Ring of Honor World Champion? The match felt important though and it got some time.
Moxley shows up on the tron and he’s got the Rock and Roll Express ties up in the back! The OutRunners try to make the save but they got taken out by Yuta and Marina Shafir. RatedFTR show up and make sure everyone is alright as we go off the air.
Final Thoughts: The show looks SO much better on Max. The feed, the lighting, the camera angles… it looks great. The show was fine tonight, noting bad, and overall pretty consistent. I figured we may get a bigger debut considering it’s the first Collision on Max but we got some good stuff with Garcia and Briscoe, the trios main event, and the four-way. 7.0/10.
