Keisean Henderson is a top 2026 recruit committed to the Houston Cougars since May 2024.
That is a long-term commitment in today’s college football recruiting space, but head coach Willie Fritz and the Cougars will have to work hard to keep it.
That’s especially true now that Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide have gotten involved in Henderson’s recruitment. The 5-star announced on X that he had just received an offer from the 18-time national champions.
The good news for Houston is that Henderson has spoken highly of coach Fritz in the past. He also told On3 that NIL would not affect his decision. However, he will entertain new offers and recruiting inquiries — at least to build relationships.
“Just listening to what they’ve got to say, more so for relationships, you never know where people are going to end up at. I approach it like that every time they talk to me,” Henderson said.
Alabama is far from the only program that made an offer to Henderson, as Florida State, Georgia, Ole Miss and Bill Belichick’s North Carolina have recently offered.
He will be a big name to watch in the 2026 cycle as it progresses. According to 247Sports, he’s ranked as the No. 1 overall athlete in the 2026 class and the No. 15 recruit overall. Henderson could play quarterback, wide receiver or even defensive back at the college level.
