Bigtime players make big-time plays in big-time games. That’s exactly what Alabama wide receiver Ryan Williams did Saturday night, delivering his best performance to date with 177 yards on six catches and the game-winning touchdown to help the fourth-ranked Crimson Tide beat No. 2 Georgia in a 41-34 thriller.
His biggest play of the night came in a critical situation. With 2:31 to play in the fourth quarter and Alabama trailing for the first time all night, Jalen Milroe went Williams’ way, taking a deep shot down the sideline that the 17-year-old true freshman turned into the game-winning touchdown.
Williams made a leaping catch, then made two Georgia defenders whiff with a filthy spin move before leaving everyone in the dust on his way to end zone for a 75-yard score.
That was the first touchdown of the day for Williams, who entered the week having scored at least one touchdown in each of Alabama’s first three games.
He now has five touchdowns on the season, with each of those coming on explosive plays of at least 30 yards. He has six total receptions of at least 40 yards, which is the most of any player in the country.
Williams, who reclassified from the 2025 class, was the No. 8 overall prospect and No. 3 wide receiver in the 2024 cycle.
