In any given season Bayern Munich are determined to reach the Champions League final, however, since UEFA confirmed Munich – specifically the Allianz Arena – as the stage for the ultimate round of club football’s premium competition, Die Rekordmeister will be pulling out all the stops to reach it.
Upon the announcement, Bayern academy graduate and breakout star, Aleksandar Pavlović, gave his thoughts on a home final and touched on his side’s chances of making it to the bitter end (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
“A final at home is of course crazy — and we will do everything we can to reach it and then win it. But there’s still a long way to go. The wins against Paris and Shakhtar were very important,” Pavlović said.
Despite one blip against Barcelona, Bayern have had a decent Champions League campaign thus far currently sitting in 10th spot – just behind bitter rivals, Borussia Dortmund. The Bavarians are just two spots off automatic qualification for the knockout stages, and with a favourable last two fixtures in the league phase, they have every chance to launch a strong charge for a home final at the Allianz Arena.
Aleksandar Pavlović and the rest of his side will undoubtedly throw everything they have to make the dream of a home final a reality, although, the Champions League is always filled with unexpected twists and turns.
Perhaps Pavlović did put it best when he said “there’s still a long way to go.”
