The 2024 NFL season has not gone according to plan for the Dallas Cowboys.
They didn’t make the comeback their fans expected coming into the year, after a frustrating loss to the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round of the playoffs in 2023.
Dak Prescott’s injury certainly didn’t help their cause, and with everything going on, Mike McCarthy has been on the hot seat.
Fans and analysts alike have suggested some new head coaching options for them, including Deion Sanders, who has been a commonly discussed coaching candidate for the 2025 season.
The coaching landscape is fuzzy after Sanders, however, which is why Keyshawn Johnson made an interesting statement on “Speak” on FS1.
“If it’s Deion Sanders, you and I are going to jump up and down on the table; if you’re not getting Prime, who else are you getting?,’ Johnson asked.
.@Keyshawn believes Mike McCarthy should get an extension with the Cowboys unless Deion Sanders is available

As Johnson mentioned, if Sanders is available, and the Cowboys can make a strong bid for him as their newest head coach, they’ll kick McCarthy to the curb, no questions asked.
But, if Sanders stays in Colorado, as some have indicated, Johnson believes they might just stick with McCarthy, hoping to run it back with a familiar face.
He hasn’t helped them win any major playoff games to this point or take them to the Super Bowl, but they do know what they have with him.
Sometimes, the unknown is scarier than anything else, so the Cowboys could just take their chances with McCarthy for at least one more year.
