Auburn is closing in on five-star pass-rusher Jared Smith and four-star cornerback Blake Woodby, according national recruiting analyst Tom Loy. Smith is rated as the No. 19 overall prospect and No. 2 EDGE in the class of 2025. He’d be the highest-rated defender to commit to the Tigers since Derrick Brown in 2016. Woodby is rated as the No. 130 overall prospect and No. 16 cornerback.
“Auburn fans need to keep a very close eye on Thompson (Ala.) edge rusher Jared Smith,” Loy said Wednesday, via the College Football Recruiting Show. “I like the Tigers to get it done with Smith. As soon as Woodby decommitted from Ohio State, I put in a Crystal Ball pick for Auburn. I like the Tigers to get this one done. Head coach Hugh Freeze and his staff have done a phenomenal job of making him a top priority. I like the Tigers there.”
Auburn currently boasts the No. 13 class in the nation and the No. 7 class in the SEC. Landing Smith and Woody would vault the Tigers’ class up to No. 7 in the nation and No. 4 in the SEC, behind Alabama, Georgia and LSU.
