Raphinha scored a hat-trick in a sensational performance to help Barcelona to a brilliant win over German giants Bayern Munich. Look back at the UEFA Champions League match with our Barcelona vs Bayern Munich stats centre, plus the key post-match Opta facts.
Raphinha was the star of the show, as Barcelona’s forward scored a hat-trick in their 4-1 demolition of Bayern Munich on Matchday 3 of the Champions League.
The Brazilian forward scored a hat-trick, including a goal after just 56 seconds; the fastest goal ever conceded by Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
With further strikes on 45 and 56 minutes, Raphinha became just the fourth player to score a hat-trick in the Champions League versus Bayern Munich after Roy Makaay, Sergio Agüero and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Harry Kane had cancelled out Raphinha’s opener with his 34th UEFA Champions League goal, further increasing his record as the top English goalscorer in the competition. Former Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski put Barcelona back in front just 16 minutes later, however.
The Polish forward scored his 97th goal in the competition, moving him just three goals away from becoming the third player to reach a century of UCL goals after Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
For Bayern, this gave them a taste of their own medicine after their own thrashing of Dinamo Zagreb on MD 1 (9-2), but Barcelona were in exceptional form tonight. Their next match is a big one – El Clásico on Saturday versus Real Madrid at the Bernabéu. They’ll hope to replicate this performance and extend their lead at the top of La Liga.
