It was another strange week for Bayern Munich loanees. After holding Wanner scoreless last week, Bayern faced another loanee this week that contributed to their downfall, as Armindo Sieb assisted the winning goal for Mainz against Bayern. Alexander Nübel only made one save across two matches this week but won both by an aggregate of 8-2. Paul Wanner was benched after 30 minutes in the Conference League, but then still started and scored against on Nübel and Stuttgart.
FC Bayern Munich
There are nine players on loan from the first team.
Germany – Bundesliga
There are five players on loan in the German Bundesliga: Alexander Nübel, Franz Krätzig, Paul Wanner, Armindo Sieb, and Gabriel Vidovic.
Alexander Nübel – VfB Stuttgart
Nübel started for Stuttgart against Young Boys in the Champions League. By halftime, he had conceded a goal, recorded zero saves, and the match was level at 1-1. In the second half, he did not record another save, nor did he concede another goal, but Stuttgart ran away to a 5-1 win.
Nübel was back in the starting lineup against Heidenheim and fellow loanee, Wanner on the road Sunday. This time he also conceded one goal, but also recorded one save. This was enough to keep his team to win 3-1.
Franz Krätzig – VfB Stuttgart
Krätzig was on the bench for the Champions league victory, but did not make it onto the pitch. He was not in the squad for the Bundesliga win.
Stuttgart will host St Pauli on Saturday.
Paul Wanner – 1.FC Heidenheim
Wanner started for Heidenheim against Başakşehir in Turkey in the Conference League, but that was about it. He completed 92% of his passes, but he was credited with an error that led to a goal — which was a bit harsh, seeing as he was dispossessed at midfield before the ball was dribbled to the 18-yard box where a pass was put, and then directed into goal. Wanner had no shots, nor chances created and was subbed out in the 30th minute with his team down 2-0. There were no injuries nor red cards that forced the substitution. Both teams traded goals in the second half and Heidenheim fell 3-1.
Wanner’s status as a starter was not affected by the Conference league debacle. He started against Nübel and got a goal against his fellow loanee. The goal came after a great run from midfield, when his teammate found him 15 yards away the box. He shot from long distance into the top right corner. Nübel got a hand on it, but it still found the back of the net. Wanner played the full 90 minutes, but could not help his team find any more goals and they lost 3-1.
Heidenheim host St. Gallen in the Conference League on Thursday, before traveling to Bochum in league play.
Armindo Sieb – 1. FSV Mainz 05
Sieb was on the bench against his parent club to start, but came on just 15 minutes in due to an injury to Mainz’ captain, Burkhardt. Though Sieb recorded two shots and a chance created for his teammates to shoot, his greatest contribution to the match came on an assist in the second goal. He took a backheel from a teammate out on the wing and dribbled towards the baseline before firing it in towards Lee, who doubled the lead and finished his brace. Sieb was pulled off in the 77th minute, still up 2-0. As we know Sané pulled one back to make it interesting at the end, but Mainz gave Bayern their first loss, 2-1.
