Bayern Munich’s injury list has ballooned into absurdity recently, with 8 players out injured at the time of writing. Nor do Bayern expect many of them to be back before the end of the year. With that in mind, Bayern turned their attention to the back-to-back friendlies that the club had scheduled against Greuther Fürth and Red Bull Salzburg during the winter break, realizing that one of these games had to be cut. Here is what Bayern announced via their official website:
FC Bayern have made alterations to their plans for the winter break due to the impact of current injuries on the squad and the need to manage workloads. As a result, the friendly match against Greuther Fürth scheduled for 6 January 2025 will not take place. Tickets already purchased for the game will be automatically and fully refunded by FC Bayern in due course.
So it seems the game against the Austrian Cans is still on the table and will be the only friendly Bayern contests this winter, in a repeat of the winter break of 2023. Hopefully Bayern’s return to Bundesliga football in the year will turn out better than it did in 2023.
