There is no way to sugarcoat this — Manchester United is a dumpster fire.
A disasterclass.
A debacle.
A mess.
A disgrace.
(Should I keep going or do you get the point? Okay then…)
Sitting in 14th place of the Premier League table, the club has a -5 goal differential at the time this post was written.
The Red Devils cannot settle on a coach, rip through players like Lily Phillips goes through, ah nevermind,…and just generally do not understand how to build a team or a culture.
Now, Joshua Zirkzee — a former Bayern Munich player who was somehow miscast as a top-tier striker last summer — is caught up in the fray. Since moving to Manchester United, Zirkzee has been, well, less than stellar.
Zirkzee has four goals and two assists in 27 games across all competitions this season and hit rock bottom earlier on Monday against Newcastle United:

Maybe Zirkzee had an “Eric Dier moment” or maybe he even went full Chan Ho Park vs. Newcastle…who knows?
Either way, none of this is Zirkzee’s fault — anyone who saw him as a youngster at Bayern Munich could see that he lacked energy and urgency in the final third and that he was often too stagnant to be in the right position to make good on scoring opportunities.
Physically he had all of the tools back then, but he just lacked…”it.”
After stints in Belgium and Italy, some thought Zirkzee turned the corner and Manchester United was there to scoop him up as if it had found a winning lottery ticket last summer.
Well…not so much, eh?
Anyway, it is a tricky decision when balancing the best career pathway athletically vs. getting a big check. Sometimes, the money is too good to pass up — and no one blames Zirkzee for that.
However, if you are a fan of Manchester United, the Belgian could be the latest in a very long line of busts.
As they say, reality bites.
