Bayern Munich Manuel Neuer seems to be on the verge of inking a one-year-contract extension with the club, which would carry his tenure with the club through the end of the 2025/26 season.
Club CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen would like the see Neuer be a mentor to his successor.
“First of all, he should get fit again in calm and return to the pitch completely healthy. An experienced goalkeeper like Manuel, who has been playing for decades at a level that other goalkeepers around the world cannot match, is valuable for FC Bayern and can of course pass on a lot of his experience,” Dreesen told Tz (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Who exactly Neuer might be mentoring is anyone guess at this stage. Alexander Nübel (on loan at VfB Stuttgart) and Daniel Peretz are two prime, internal candidates, while FC Köln’s Jonas Urbig could also be in the mix.
