Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany wants to be very clear about something — Thomas Müller is still a very important part of the team.
“Thomas is not a back-up. He is an important part of our squad, just like Manu (Neuer). These players are always important when they play and also when they don’t. You earn this role over the years. In the past few months he has often played when Harry Kane or Jamal weren’t there. That’s not a gift either, he earned it,” said Kompany (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Given that, Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl seems ready to sign the veteran up for another season.
“He’s an identification figure of FC Bayern and will remain so. He has experienced everything with this club. He’s extremely important to us. The talks with Thomas will certainly be very short. There will be no long negotiations. It’s just a question: ‘Hey do you still want to continue or you don’t? And what are your plans looking like?’ But that’s still a long way off,” Eberl noted (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Müller’s situation will be interesting to watch — and might be dependent on just how much he wants to get paid. What would be fair for the veteran? That is something that both parties will have to agree upon to ink Müller for the 2025/26 campaign.
