Right so we’re not gonna talk about what happened to Bayern Munich in the DFB-Pokal and instead we’ll be looking at how the team could line up against Heidenheim. The Bavarians had a difficult time against Borussia Dortmund and will look to bounce back with a good showing against beatable opposition.
Team news
Apart from the usual absentees, Manuel Neuer missed the last training session before this game and is a doubt to start in goal. Barring any surprise black magic recovery from the 38-year-old and Sven Ulreich only returning, Daniel Peretz might finally get a chance to start in goal. Furthermore, Aleksandar Pavlović is back and is likely to slide right back into the starting XI; Bayern sorely missed him, and his return is a massive boost for the Rekordmeister.
With Harry Kane still out with an injury and given the opponent, it is likely that Vincent Kompany goes for his best possible team and hope to get the job done ASAP to facilitate early substitutions. That said, Mathys Tel will start up top, supported by Leroy Sané, Jamal Musiala, and Michael Olise, after which Pavlović joins Joshua Kimmich in midfield. The backline is set in stone save for one change: Alphonso Davies, Dayot Upamecano, Kim Min-jae (it looks like he’s willing to risk it all despite not being 100% fit), and Sacha Boey comprises the defensive line while Peretz steps in between the sticks.
The lineup should look something like this:
