After a very scary looking fall while defending against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, Manuel Neuer was (rightfully) subbed off after an injury was suspected. But it looks like it may be worse than fans thought.
Earlier this week, it was believed that Bayern Munich’s loyal goalkeeper would be in the squad against Werder Bremen, however Vincent Kompany chose to play Sven Ulreich. It has now been reported (@linner_nicolas) that Manuel Neuer did not take part in training today either, and instead completed an individual training program. He is now in doubts for the squad that will face Bayer Leverkusen next matchday.
This match-up will be an extremely difficult challenge for Bayern, even if they recently found their momentum in the last week. Missing one of their most vital players, they may face an even bigger challenge than expected. However, according to the reports, the club is confident that the retired German legend will begin training with the squad again soon. The fans certainly hope he will.
Why is Bayern Munich doing so much better under Vincent Kompany compared to Thomas Tuchel? What’s changed, and what does it say about the Tuchel era? And what should we expect for the upcoming game against Bayer Leverkusen? We discuss all that and more in our newest podcast episode! Listen to it below or on Spotify.
