Unfortunately, Bayern Munich legend Thomas Müller tends to not start two games in a row often anymore. So when he does, it is important for him to take full advantage. Starting off the match with an early assist, it is fair to say he played his part as Bayern’s slick attack dismantled TSG Hoffenheim 5-0 in their Bundesliga encounter. Speaking after the match, the satisfaction was evident in Müller’s words.
“We dominated the entire game. At no moment did we get the feeling that we slowed down,” Müller said, via @iMiaSanMia. “We started [the new year] well in Gladbach and it was important to keep it up today. The January schedule is packed as never before and we’ll need the entire squad. We’re looking forward to the next games.”
Indeed, the schedule is brutal. Usually, Bayern plays a match a week in January, but every week for the rest of the month will have a midweek fixture as well, as the Champions League group stage resumes. Müller mentioned the entire squad is important and he backed those words with his performance today, as Bayern decidedly did not miss star Jamal Musiala. Though he was pulled off the pitch when Musiala finally did enter the field and one feels that change will be reflected in the starting XI on the weekend, Müller knows his importance to the squad remains high.
