Bayern Munich star Leroy Sané has not exactly lived up to the vast hype he had when the club spent a tumultuous year-and-a-half pursuing him when he was a Manchester City player.
While the Germany international has shown some glimpses of that potential, his performances have been inconsistent and he has been susceptible to prolonged slumps and bouts with inefficiency.
With his contract running out this summer — and a hefty contract (€15,000,000 base salary, €5,000,000 bonus) some are questioning whether or not Bayern Munich will bring Sané back.
Well…if you are a Sané fan, you will like this theory.
It is no secret that the Bavarians are looking to revamp at least part of their attack with Sané, Kingsley Coman, and Serge Gnabry as the most likely players to be looked at for a departure.
However, Sané’s rumored willingness to take a paycut and a gradual uptick in production in the second half of the season will earn him a new, less rich deal from Bayern Munich. Sané will not have to be great, but he will have to be better than Gnabry and Coman, which should be doable — as long a Vincent Kompany plays him on the left-side and does not bury him behind Michael Olise in the winger pecking order.
That will set up the club for another attempt to offload Coman and Gnabry during the summer transfer window.
In four and a half years in Bavaria, Sané has 52 goals and 51 assists in 194 games across all competitions.
