The New England Patriots must be excited about their offseason so far, having successfully brought Mike Vrabel back to the franchise as their new head coach.
The Patriots decided to part ways with Jerod Mayo after just one year because he was unable to improve the roster throughout the 2024 NFL season, clearing the path for Vrabel to take over.
Vrabel spent last season working with the Cleveland Browns and now gets a shot to coach the team he won three Super Bowl titles with.
Meanwhile, New England legend Bill Belichick took his talents to the collegiate ranks after accepting a position to be UNC’s new head coach.
Belichick has ties to the Tar Heels because of his father and now gets a chance to make his mark with the legendary program.
To beef up his coaching staff, Belichick brought in former linebacker Jamie Collins to serve as a defensive assistant and he expressed his happiness with the move via TMZ Sports.
“Trying to step into another lane that I’ll be great at, man, and that’s coaching. Blessed for the opportunity. My guy…I don’t know, man. I love that dude, he loved me obviously, he can’t get rid of me so we’ll see how that works out. But yeah man, I’m grateful. I’m shocked but I’m grateful and ready,” Collins said.
Retired All-Pro LB Jamie Collins, who won Super Bowl XLIX with the Patriots, is joining his former head coach Bill Belichick’s coaching staff at the University of North Carolina.

Collins said he would work mostly with the linebackers, though he’ll likely consult with other personnel.
This is a solid hire for Belichick and should provide UNC with some optimism that they’ll be competitive this upcoming year.
