ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills rushing attack got off to a hot start against the Kansas City Chiefs, so it was fitting for quarterback Josh Allen to punch the ball in the end zone for the first touchdown of the game to take a 10-3 lead over the Chiefs in the second quarter.

The touchdown came on Buffalo’s second drive after the teams exchanged field goals on each of their first drives. The Bills put together drives of 14 and 11 plays, marching down the field and having consistent success on first down, averaging 6.9 yards per play. Allen also started the game 4-4 for 33 yards on first down. Buffalo did not face a single third down on the touchdown drive.
Allen kept the ball himself at the Kansas City 5-yard line and rushed to the left into the end zone to get the score. Allen now has the third-most rushing yards by a quarterback in postseason history (517), starting the game with 26 yards on the ground. Through two drives the Bills averaged 4.1 yards before contact per rush. They were not hit at or behind the line of scrimmage on any of their first 15 rushes.
