Former UFC welterweight wild man, Mike Perry, is widely-considered the face of bareknuckle boxing. But “Platinum” claims Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) has been unable to land him a fight in the wake of his Jake Paul loss last July.
“It looks like March for Mike,” BKFC boss, David Feldman, told MMA Fighting. “He’s definitely coming back. We talked about it a little bit at the fight [in Florida]. I know that Mike likes to talk and say, ‘They’re not giving me fights, they’re not doing this,’ but we’ve been talking to his management team. He’s coming back.”
I guess “Platinum” wasn’t fired after all.
“I wish he didn’t step outside of this sport because I truly believe he owns this sport,” Feldman continued. “This was made for Mike Perry. Now he has to come back in here and rekindle this flame and show BKFC fans and all the combat sports fans that he is a true bare-knuckle fighter and this is where he belongs and he’s going to show that again in March.”
Perry, 33, is undefeated for BKFC at 5-0 with three straight knockouts, but got outclassed by Jake Paul during their “sweet science” affair last summer. No word yet on potential opponents for Perry’s March return, but it’s probably too soon for the winner of this fight.
