Borussia Dortmund are in trouble. After reaching the Champions League final for the first time in over a decade, Dortmund have seen a sharp negative trajectory. The club has suffered in the Bundesliga and now sit in the bottom half of the table, in tenth. With a difficult challenge against Eintracht Frankfurt ahead, there’s no saying how far they could drop. It is safe to say the club is preparing for life after newly appointed manager Nuri Şahin.
On the other hand, the German national team is thriving under new management including assistant manager Sandro Wagner. The player-turned-coach is making waves and is destined for a top club’s manager position in due time. Could Borussia Dortmund be that club?

Bild reports that Wagner is indeed being considered by Borussia Dortmund if Şahin is dismissed by the club. Dortmund is interested and impressed by Wagner, but it is reported that Wagner might not feel the same. Wagner is said to be leaning towards staying with the DFB.
Does Wagner want to stay for the FIFA World Cup 2026 or is he simply waiting for better options?
