Teenage centre-back Dean Huijsen scored the only goal of the game to give Bournemouth a 1-0 win over Tottenham at the Vitality Stadium on Thursday.
The victory was Bournemouth’s fourth at home in the Premier League this season, having also defeated Southampton, Arsenal and Manchester City.
Huijsen headed Bournemouth in front after just 17 minutes, allowed a free run to the back post before heading in Marcus Tavernier’s inswinging corner. The former Juventus man became the Cherries’ youngest ever scorer in the Premier League at 19 years and 235 days old.
Both teams had goals ruled out for offside either side of half-time, while Bournemouth were denied again by the VAR after Evanilson took advantage of an errant clearance to finish, but he was offside when the ball rebounded to him.
Andoni Iraola’s side struggled to put the game to bed, having 16 shots in the second half, only ever once having more in the second half of a Premier League game (18 vs Sheffield United in March 2024).
It didn’t cost them, though, as Spurs succumbed to their sixth league defeat of the season, leaving them in 10th place in the table, with Bournemouth leapfrogging them into ninth.
