Werder Bremen defender Milos Veljkovic has recently been linked with a move to his native Serbia.
However, according to Werder head of first-team football Peter Niemeyer, there are no plans to offload the centre-back, despite him being out of contract this summer.
“We only found out about the alleged interest in Milos from the media. We haven’t heard anything and we’re not looking to sell him at the moment,” Niemeyer told Bild.
“He is an important player for us.”
According to Bremen-based publication Deichstube, talks about a possible new deal for Veljkovic are expected to take place soon.
The 29-year-old has played for Werder since 2016.
