According to a report from Foot Mercato journalist Hanif Ben Berkane (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich youngsters Mathys Tel and Adam Aznou do not want to leave the club, but could find themselves out the door soon enough.
In fact, if the duo had their druthers, each would stay put, but broken promises could be leaving both feeling like they will never get their chance:
Just like Mathys Tel, Adam Aznou didn’t want to leave Bayern at all, but the coach hasn’t kept his promises regarding game time this season. Aznou’s goal is to feature for Morocco at this year’s AFCON and that’s why he wants to play.
It is a difficult topic to address when no one knows exactly what was said, but Kompany can only act in the best interest of the team. If the coach felt as if the younger players were lacking, it is his job to ensure that he uses the best possible players for a specific match.
That said, a part of any coach’s job is ensuring that young players are developing and eventually working their way into the lineup. It is not an exact science, but, perhaps, Kompany could lean on this experience to improve his work on this topic in the future.
Check out the Weekend Warm-Up Show, where we discuss Mathys Tel’s situation, accountability for Vincent Kompany, the Niko Kovač hire at Dortmund, and transfer target Xavi Simons.
