Earlier in the 2024 NFL regular season, the Carolina Panthers made the controversial move to bench former No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young in favor of veteran journeyman Andy Dalton.
This move came with a lot of criticism because many believed Young wasn’t given enough time to develop and live up to expectations of a top draft pick at the quarterback position.
Although the Panthers were getting a lot of heat for seemingly quitting on Young too early, the second-year quarterback got another chance to prove his worth recently by becoming the starter again, and he hasn’t looked back since, as he has really improved his game after going through the humility of being benched prematurely.
Even though Carolina isn’t headed to the playoffs this year, Young’s improvement has shown signs of promise for the future for the Panthers, especially after what he did against the Philadelphia Eagles on the road on Sunday in Week 14 via the NFL’s X account.

Despite eventually losing this game to the Eagles, the Panthers have shown a lot of fight as of late, being in one-score games against elite teams like the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs and Eagles.
In the loss to the Eagles on Sunday, Young threw for 191 yards, a touchdown and an interception while also rushing for 29 yards on seven carries.
These may not be eye-popping numbers, but this talented quarterback is showing that he might be turning the corner, which is a great sign for the Panthers’ future.
