No. 5-ranked Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Featherweight Movsar Evolev finally returns to action at UFC 310 this weekend (Sat., Dec. 7, 2024) against former Bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling, which goes down inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Nevertheless, Sterling released a video over the weekend via YouTube, discussing the confusion over being buried on UFC 310’s “Prelims” undercard and not on the ESPN+ pay-per-view (PPV) portion.
“I didn’t know if I should have been insulted by the placement on the fight card or glass half-full,” Sterling said. “I guess that’s the best way I try to look at everything in life. I get to fight earlier and get to be done earlier. I was a little confused by it, of course.”
It didn’t take long for Evolev to respond to the comment, revealing that he doesn’t care about being excluded from the PPV.
“Guys my fight will be broadcasted on ESPN, way more people will watch my fight than on the PPV,” Evolev wrote on Twitter. “I don’t even care if I’m the first fight of the night, I get paid the same.
“All my life, I worked hard to earn [everything],” he concluded. “Nothing was ever given to me.”
While it is very strange to have Kron Gracie — who tried to win his last fight without throwing a punch (seriously) on the PPV over highly-ranked Featherweights such as Sterling and Evloev — the undefeated Russian has a point.
That’s because more mixed material arts (MMA) fans will, in fact, watch his fight on ESPN than if it was behind the PPV paywall, especially because UFC 310 is a rather average final PPV.
