Bournemouth stretched their unbeaten Premier League run to nine games but a late Reece James goal meant they only took one point back to the south coast. Look back on the game with the best facts and Opta data in our Chelsea vs Bournemouth stats page.
Bournemouth extended their club record unbeaten Premier League run to nine matches (W6 D3) with this point against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Antoine Semenyo thought he was the hero, scoring Bournemouth’s second goal after earlier winning a penalty for the Cherries, but Reece James’ superb injury-time free-kick rescued a point for the home side.
Semenyo’s strike would have been a worthy match-winner, with his shot too powerful for Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sánchez to keep out. It was his sixth goal in the Premier League this season, netting for the first time since 22 December 2024 against Manchester United.
Earlier in the half, Semenyo won Bournemouth a penalty which got them back into the game. The forward was taken down in the box by Moises Caicedo, before Justin Kluivert converted his penalty past Sánchez. It was the 11th goal that Bournemouth have scored via their substitutes this season, more than any other side in the Premier League.
Chelsea had led the game at half-time after Cole Palmer opened the scoring inside 13 minutes after great work from Nicolas Jackson. Palmer’s strike was his 20th goal involvement of the 2024-25 campaign, but wasn’t enough for all three points.
It was left to another sub, Reece James, to rescue Chelsea in the fifth minute of added time. His pinpoint free-kick was placed beyond Mark Travers to complete the scoring in an entertaining affair. Despite that late strike, Chelsea are now winless in each of their last five games (D3 L2) after winning their previous five in a row.
