Kansas City Chiefs rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy knows what his old teammate Arch Manning is capable of for the Texas Longhorns in 2025.
Worthy played far more with Quinn Ewers as he became a wideout “worthy” of the No. 28 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft at Texas, but he saw Manning’s skills as Ewers’ backup.
Manning appeared in just two games as a true freshman, which was Worthy’s final season in Austin, but while they were teammates, the Kansas City wideout saw greatness in the young quarterback.
“Arch is a dog, man,” Worthy said at Super Bowl LIX media day on Monday (h/t On3). “I expect nothing less than a Heisman. … He’s gonna get [a national championship], too. To win the Heisman, you’ve got to be in that conversation.”
This isn’t a new revelation for Worthy after Manning appeared in 10 games as a redshirt freshman and threw for nine touchdowns (with two interceptions) while also rushing for four touchdowns.
Worthy had these thoughts about Manning back when he was a freshman with unlimited, but unknown, potential.
“Arch knows what I expect of him,” Worthy said. “I told Arch he was going to win the Heisman when I was there. It’s nothing that he doesn’t expect already.”
With Ewers headed to join Worthy in the NFL, the Longhorns will now dive head-first into the Manning era.
Much like Ewers, he was the consensus No. 1 overall recruit in his class (2023). Unlike Ewers, he’s the nephew of NFL legends Peyton Manning and Eli Manning, and grandson of college football legend Arch Manning, the patriarch of the Manning football family.
