The Tennessee Volunteers have picked up another important win on the 2025 recruiting trail.
Head coach Josh Heupel has already put together something impressive. At the time of this writing, the Vols’ 2025 class is ranked No. 12 nationally.
An already strong group got even stronger, though, with the addition of three-star cornerback Tre Poteat out of Verona, Wisc.
Notably, Poteat chose to play down south for the Volunteers despite offers to play for either Michigan, Wisconsin or Iowa State.
“I see that with the resources they have can make me the best player I can be and really reach my max potential,” Poteat told On3 regarding his decision to commit to Tennessee.
“My favorite thing about the Vols is that the coaches keep everything real. They never sugarcoated anything and just kept it honest,” he continued. “The fan support, there’s something different over in Knoxville.”
That says something about the hype that Heupel is building at Rocky Top because Michigan, Wisconsin and Iowa State are all known to have rabid fanbases.
According to 247Sports, Poteat is the No. 48 cornerback in the 2025 class.
